This project delves into patterns of criminal record checks in Denmark, focusing on trends after 2015. By teaming up with the Danish Police, I hand collect data that shows which companies are reviewing job applicants and employees’ criminal histories. I then combine this information with data from Statistics Denmark. The findings highlight key trends in how companies, industries, and sectors use criminal record checks in their hiring processes. By understanding these trends, the study provides insights for creating policies that balance job opportunities and safety considerations. This collaboration offers a unique undertaking between researchers and the Danish Police to study employment and criminal record checks in Denmark.
