The Implication of Different Occupational Task-based Measures on Income Inequality

Differences in occupational choices explain a large part of income variation. However, occupational codes are just proxies for the underlying tasks and skills needed in the occupation. With this project we want to create a new cross-walk between occupational codes in Denmark and task-based measures of occupations from Germany and US. We want to use the cross-walk to investigate two questions. First, we want to understand how transferable human capital is across occupations. Second, we want to understand if tasks have changed within occupations over the last 20-30 years.
